A
Brief History On Rubber Safety Surfacing
Rubber
surfacing dates back as far back as seventy years, and originates in
Europe, where it was first developed for the athletic market. It's been
used in the North America for a little over 25 years by a number of
companies and still going strong. The rubber products were initially
comprised of rubber granules, latex and cement. Today it has evolved
into a high quality rubber and resin-based blend. Today's high quality
EPDM rubber and strong bonding agent which contributes, strength, elasticity,
and durability, has been installed in variety of demanding commercial
and residential environments all over the world.
Gator
Grip Safety Surfacing represents the best and most advanced application
of that evolution. Where there is opportunity to choose between a higher
quality product or a cheaper, inferior component, we always strive to
choose the best product that will further strengthen our commitment
to excellent workmanship. Consider the following example. The
extrusion process of EPDM rubber consists of melting the raw materials,
then laying out in roll form (layered) for curing, then granulated to
desired spec. Peroxide is used to cure, which is far superior than sulfur
curing for many reasons. Sulfur
curing (SBR) creates a product that has cured once and begins the process
of "dying" and aging. This means the rubber will not retain its rubber
like "softness" and color vibrancy over time. It is fairly relatively
cheap as well, which is why a lot of manufactures use it. Peroxide
curing (EPDM) costs more in comparison, but maintains a "continuous
bloom" over time as it does not fully cure for years to come. It maintains
better color vibrancy and soft "bounce" over time and provides better
adhesion between rubber granules. Gator
Grip Safety Surfacing uses only virgin EPDM peroxide cured rubber, unless
otherwise specified by the client or application requirements. We also
use the highest grade Aliphatic resin as a bonding agent, which is superior
to regular MDI urethane, which can produce a temporary "yellowing"
effect for a short period of time while it cures. Give us a Call! We are confident that your experience with Gator Grip Safety Surfacing will be a pleasant and memorable one. Please give us call for a free estimate and consultation today. |
